1938 Marx Hi Yo Silver The Lone Ranger Target Game In Original Box
Extraordinary unsold store stock from the Donald Kaufman collection (owner of KB Toys). Recently purchased at auction it had never been out of the box. All tin litho, complete with all accessories, and never assembled. Includes large original box plus auction hang tag from Bertoia Auctions. Brilliantly colored with all kinds of good guy bad guy graphics the game includes a huge 27" x 16" lithographed tinplate target with cardboard backing. Edges of the metal target were folded back over the cardboard to hold together the two surfaces. Bracket supports on the lower edges (near the corners) fit two metal rod braces. Both braces are included and have never been attached. The toy comes with its original black enameled pressed steel dart gun complete with all four natural-rubber tipped, wooden shaft, darts. Greenberg's Guide to Marx Toys (Volume 1) indicates that Ř" is the correct number of darts included with the set. The darts and pistol were still partially sealed inside their original envelope with schematic instructions. The condition of the darts and pistol is the best I've seen for any 1930?s Marx target or gun toy. The original Marx packing slip was still inside the envelope. The huge box for this toy is rarely seen. It's all text on the front with simple schematic illustrations on the reverse side for connecting the braces. It has both fold-over, printed, endflaps which I've never seen before. They're always missing. The Bertoia Auction hang tag is also included. Size: 28" x 17" x 1½" Date Sold: Jul. 2011
